Suzuki shows production S-Cross

0702 Suzuki S-Cross 1

Suzuki has shown off the production version of the S-Cross ahead of its début at the Geneva Motor Show. Well, sort of. The image shown here is pretty dark, but it is clear that the production car has stayed true to the S-Cross concept that was shown in Paris last year.

It won’t be called the S-Cross when it comes to market and, in fact, doesn’t have a name yet, but Suzuji refers to it ha the “all-new C-segment crossover”. Details are still pretty hard to come by, but Suzuki has said it will be a front-wheel-drive car with all-wheel drive as an option, and it’s also said to have one of the largest loading areas in the segment.

It will be built in Hungary, based on an entirely new platform. On the engine front, both petrol and diesel will be offered, with the oil-burners being supplied by Fiat. The S-Cross is 4 310 mm long, 1 840 mm wide and 1 600 mm wide, which makes it shorter and lower than its undeniable rival, the Nissan Qashqai, but a little bit wider. For full details, we’ll have to wait for March, when the Geneva show kicks off.
