AMG chassis guru off to M

0602 Arnd Meyer goes to BMW M 1

Mercedes-Benz AMG has already lost one engineer this month, and now it seems that yet another AMG is leaving the company, this time to go to BMW’s M division. Arnd Meyer, the engineer that has overseen the chassis development of all recent AMG models, not least the SLS AMG Black Series, is heading to Munich to ply his trade.

At BMW M he will oversee the development not only of M car chassis, but also their powertrain and electronics. BMW has not yet said when Meyer will start with the M division, but a spokesperson from AMG said that, due to contractual obligations, he will not be able to start with BMW immediately.

The highly rated engineer follows in the footsteps of Fritz Eichler, AMG’s powertrain engineer, who left the firm to join Volkswagen. Eichler will be in charge of petrol engine development at Wolfsburg from the middle of the year.
